That is now changing as the Cannonball Run has transformed into the One Lap of America and now does all its racing on official race tracks around the United States. While there is still nearly 4,000 miles of driving that happens between tracks the drivers are given enough time to get from track to track with the average speed of 51.8mph, but doesn’t leave much room for gas stops and any sightseeing along the way.

The 2008 One Lap of America will mark the 25th anniversary of this event and on May 7, 2008 the One Lap of America will be at BMW Performance Center. If you are nearby BMW Performance Center this is the perfect chance to come out and watch nearly 100 cars race the track and meet some of the amazing participants.
